A firm that provides electrical service in the area has created a new website to service its customers.

Indiana Michigan Power on Thursday announced that its website is now available in Spanish. The company estimates that it receives an average of 1,800 calls per month from customers whose preferred language is Spanish.

“Indiana Michigan Power is extremely excited about offering a Spanish-version of our website to

our customers to make their lives and doing business with us easier,” said Katie Davis, I&M vice

president external affairs and customer experience, in a press release. “The launch of the Spanish language site is the newest example of how we are constantly integrating new features to enhance our customers’ experience and further outreach opportunities.”

Customers who wish to use the Spanish version of the company’s website can do so by clicking on “Español” in the top right corner of the site at indianamichiganpower.com.



Adams celebrates

Adams Memorial Hospital is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

The hospital will hold a “Patriotic Pops Concert” with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic July 3 in downtown Decatur. It is also in the midst of completing 100 service projects for organizations in Adams County and Monroeville.

"As we reach our 100th anniversary, we are focusing not only on where we've come from, but how we grow services, increase access, and give back to our community,” said Adams Memorial Hospital CEO Dr. Scott Smith in a press release.



Investing in Invenergy

Sustainable energy firm Invenergy on Wednesday announced that Blackstone Infrastructure Partners have completed about a $1 billion equity investment in the firm.

Blackstone had already invested nearly $3 billion in the company over the previous two years.

“The additional equity capital from Blackstone will help accelerate execution of our existing project portfolio and our new business initiatives,” said Invenergy president and corporate business leader Jim Murphy in a press release. “We greatly value our long-term relationship with Blackstone and CDPQ and look forward to continuing to lead the clean energy transition with the support of these trusted partners.”

Invenergy is planning a $150 million, 155-megawatt facility — Skycrest Solar Energy Center — on about 2,500 in Penn and Jackson Townships.

Ball honored

IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital of Muncie last week received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award.

The award recognizes hospitals that “have demonstrated sustained, top level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations.”

“It is an honor to award IU Health Ball with the Platinum Performance Award for their valuable national leadership and dedication to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” said Michael C. Kontos, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, in a press release. “The receipt of this award indicates that IU Health Ball remains committed to providing top quality, guideline-driven care for heart attack patients. Their success ensures patients are receiving the highest quality cardiovascular care.”



Offering courses

Indiana Chamber of Commerce will offer two safety courses in August.

The chamber will offer 10- and 30-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration courses beginning Aug. 22. They will be held at the chamber of commerce conference center in Indianapolis.

Participants in the workshop can receive credits toward their Safety Compliance Specialist Certificate.

EDP celebrates

EDP Renewables recently celebrated Global Wind Day by presenting a $100,000 check to The Future Needs Committee of Randolph County 4-H Club Incorporated for its planned $2.2 million fairgrounds renovation project.

“The fairgrounds serve as the heart of the community and are used for youth livestock programs, among many other community activities,” said Tom LoTurco, an executive vice president for EDP Renewables. “In my hometown, the fairgrounds were only active about two weeks out of the year. The Randolph County Fairgrounds is a great facility that is active throughout the year, including this one.”

EDP Renewables’ operations in Randolph County include two phases of the Headwaters Wind Farm and the Riverstart Solar Park. It is currently constructing the Riverstart III Solar Park.



Expanding in Indiana

Nucor Corporation recently announced plans to construct a new $115-million facility in Crawfordsville.

The steel producer will build a new utility structures manufacturing facility adjacent to its sheet steel mill that has been in operation since 1989. The new facility is expected to generate up to 200 new jobs.

“Today is truly yet another exciting day for Nucor, Indiana and our state’s growing energy ecosystem,” said Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb in a press release. “Nucor has been a great company partner to our state for decades, and this new Towers & Structures operation is a true testament to the company’s commitment to the Montgomery County region and to our Hoosier pro-growth business climate and skilled workforce.”



Growing in Montana

Dollar General last week announced plans to open its first stores in Montana.

The company already has stores in each of the other 47 states in the continental U.S. Stores are currently under construction in Columbia Falls and Eureka.

“Breaking ground on each new Dollar General is meaningful as it signifies upcoming affordable access to quality goods to customers, new jobs and career growth opportunities to employees, grant availability to local organizations improving residents’ education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and tax revenue for municipalities,” said Dollar General executive president of growth and emerging markets Steve Deckard in a press release. “Announcing plans for Montana has an extra element of excitement at Dollar General because our expansion in the Treasure State will complete our presence throughout the lower 48.”
