Business roundup

A Jay County High School graduate has been honored as one of the top young leaders in the manufacturing field in Indiana.

Conexus on May 18 honored Cydney Huey as one of its Rising 30 advanced manufacturing and logistics emerging leaders during a banquet in Indianapolis.

The network of industry, education and public-sector leaders that works to strengthen the state’s position in advanced manufacturing and logistics selects 30 such honorees each year to draw “attention to those with the collaboration, energy, and creativity to change the way the world does business.”

Huey is a 2014 graduate of JCHS and 2018 graduate of Trine University who has worked with BAE Systems for four years. She helps to improve efficiency, monitor quality and implement new technologies. She is also a leader of the company’s Women’s Inclusive Network and Employee Engagement committees.

She was nominated for the honor by her manager.

“The first thing you notice when you meet Cydney is her extreme positive attitude and her willingness to help others,” said Brian McKinnon of BAE Systems. “What’s amazing is she couples those traits with her engineering intellect and ability to understand very complex process interactions.
