Arts classes are set for October

Arts Place has a busy October of classes and activities.

Guitar labs are available beginning Oct. 17 for students in fourth through 12th grade. The registration fee is $40 and the deadline to register is Oct. 17. Students will be loaned a guitar to take home for practice.

ArtWorks classes beginning this month include intermediate wheel throwing Oct. 16 and homeschool art Oct. 26. A Halloween Cookies and Canvas event is also scheduled for Oct. 16.

Art exhibits include pieces by Lake Area Arts Group in the Hugh N. Ronald Gallery and works by Jay County resident Dominic Martyne that are on display through Oct. 30.

Author visit

Fort Recovery Public Library is hosting author Jess Montgomery for a free event at 6 p.m. Monday.

The author of Kinship Historical Mysteries, set in the 1920’s in Appalachian, Ohio, and inspired by Ohio’s first female sheriff. She also writes “Level Up Your Writing (Life),” a column for Writer’s Digest, and teaches for Writer’s Digest University. 

Her fourth novel in the Kinship Historical Mysteries, “The Echoes,” will be discussed.
