Peggy Gibbs

Peggy Gibbs, age 86, Redkey, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at home following an extended illness.

Born in Dunkirk on July 28, 1937, she grew up in Redkey and attended Redkey High School. She was a homemaker and worked at Kerr Glass (now Ardagh), Dunkirk, for over 10 years before retiring. She was a member of Redkey Community Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, word searches, cooking, canning, gardening, flowers, watching birds and being with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Allan Gibbs; son Mark Steven Gibbs, Chicago; daughter Teresa Ann Hartsock, Maxville; sister June Lucas, Redkey; grandchildren Shannon Alford (Tony), Lindsey Patty (Julie), Morgan Bube (Mason), Chance Gibbs (Ashley) and Zachary McIlwain; and great-grandchildren Kole Neal, Ashten Wilt and Cayden Wilt.

She was preceded in death by son Chris Gibbs; infant son Guy Allan Gibbs; daughter Penny Gibbs; granddaughters Christie Gibbs and Jenny Wilt; and parents Chauncey L. and Vera A. (Cochran) Doren.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at First Community Baptist Church, Redkey, with visiting hours from 1 until 2 p.m. on Monday at the church.
