Indians test Jay

Not many teams have given the Patriots trouble this season.

The Indians pushed them but couldn’t get the Patriots to break.

The Jay County Junior High School girls basketball teams won a pair of close games to the Fort Recovery Indians on Thursday.

The eighth grade team escaped by four points in a 23-19 win. Natalie May led a balanced scoring effort with eight points.

Other scorers for the Patriots (11-1) were Elizabeth Brunswick (five), Raylin Hummer (four), Gabi Petro (two), Amelia Heath (two) and Amara Crawford (two).

Karsyn Schwieterman powered the seventh grade team’s 28-12 win with 17 points.

Charlee Peters scored seven points for the Patriots (12-0) while Alivya Schwieterman and Claudia Dirksen added a bucket.
