Patriot girls remain perfect in ACAC play

BERNE — The Patriots got a taste of revenge in their first two Allen County Athletic Conference matchups.

In the third, they continued their dominance of the Starfires.

Having seen all three conference opponents, the Patriots are undefeated and looking for the title.

Jay County High School’s girls soccer team took down the South Adams Starfires 4-1 on Tuesday night to remain perfect in the ACAC.

Jay County also beat Heritage and Woodlan by the same score of 4-1 in a pair of home games.

For the third time this season, Jayla Huelskamp opened the scoring for the Patriots (4-1, 3-0 ACAC). Her goal against the Starfires (0-4-1, 0-1 ACAC) came 7 minutes, 35 seconds, into the contest.

Jay County’s leading striker, Morgan DeHoff, scored her fifth goal on the year with 5:56 remaining in the first half to give JCHS a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

After missing the game against Woodlan with an illness, Aixa Lopez powered the second half with a goal at the 12-minute mark and by assisting Jenna Dues to wrap up the scoring at 7:42.

Goalkeeper Maleah Parsons made three saves, only letting the ball slip through to the net with 3:15 left.
