Telestroke program honors Mercer
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Telestroke Program has recognized Mercer Health with its third Door to Needle Award.
The honor is for organizations that “deliver life-saving clot-busting medication with speed and precision.” The award went to Mercer Health’s emergency department.
Mercer Health achieved a time of 35 minutes during the 2024 Door to Needle Award Challenge, surpassing the national benchmark goal of 60 minutes.
“Strategic Healthcare Programs recognizes how much hard work is involved in providing excellent patient care, and we are proud to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our top-performing customers through our annual SHPBest award program,” said Dixie Davenport, telestroke program manager at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “These organizations care deeply about the patient experience and they never stop striving to improve every single year. Reducing door-to-needle times directly improves patient outcomes, and Mercer Health’s commitment to excellence is making a real difference.”

Planning to build
Eli Lilly and Company announced last week that it plans to build a new $6.5 billion manufacturing facility in Houston.
The synthetic medicine active pharmaceutical product facility is the second of four Lilly plans to announce this year. It will focus on manufacturing small molecule medicines and is expected to be operational within five years.
"Our new Houston site will enhance Lilly's ability to manufacture orforglipron at scale and, if approved, help fulfill the medicine's potential as a metabolic health treatment for tens of millions of people worldwide who prefer the ease of a pill that can be taken without food and water restrictions," said David A. Ricks, chair and CEO of Indianapolis-based Lilly, in a press release. "This significant U.S. investment and onshoring of our API production capabilities will ensure faster, more secure access to orforglipron and to other life-changing medicines of the future."
Expanding flights
Indianapolis International Airport will add a second nonstop flight to Dublin each week beginning in the spring.
Aer Lingus began offering nonstop flights from Indianapolis to Dublin once a week in May. On April 13, it will add a second such flight each week.
“We’re going from four nonstop flights per week to five per week,” said Maggie Cunningham, the airport’s director of air service and airport experience, in a press release. “We had set a goal of increasing flight frequency in summer 2027, so to hit that goal an entire year earlier is a testament to how successful the flight is among leisure and business travelers.”
