Fell asleep
A Portland man fell asleep while driving along Mt. Pleasant Road, causing him to crash his vehicle about 9:20 p.m. Saturday.
Benjamin E. Vance, 34, was driving his 2012 Ford Taurus south on the road near county road 200 South. He told police he must have fallen asleep, causing him to drive off the road and into a ditch. He struck a telephone pole with the passenger side of his car and hit some trees before stopping.
His vehicle was towed, with damage is estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
