Shifting dates
Jay County Fair Board announced Thursday morning that the 2025 Jay County Fair will run from June 28 through July 5 and partner with carnival company Kissel Entertainment for its midway.

Excited to open
Now in the final stages of renovation, the new facility to be operated by Westminster Preschools of Marion in the former Judge Haynes Elementary School building has tentatively scheduled a community open house for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, and an opening date of Monday, Sept. 9.
Sixty-four qualify for Indiana State Fair
Sixty-four projects from the Jay County Fair qualified to advance to the state fair level. Results from the Jay County 4-H projects, which were on display in the Bob Schmit Memorial Exhibition Hall during the fair, are as follows:

A Portland man will serve time in prison for confining a woman without her consent.
Cell tower gets approval
Another cell tower is going up in southwestern Jay County.
Partial collapse
The front portion of a building in downtown Redkey partially collapsed Thursday. Plans are in place to investigate whether the structure can be restored or must be demolished.
Former jail officer sentenced
A former Jay County Jail correctional officer has been sentenced to one year of home detention for engaging in sexual acts with an inmate.
Council changes pay rates for some positions
Some county positions will see changes reflected in their paychecks in the near future.
JCDC discusses contract, lease
Board members in attendance agreed to call a special meeting within the next few weeks to address contract stipulations from Jay County Commissioners and to take action on a lease agreement with the City of Portland. The board could not take any votes because it did not have a quorum.
