LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Unfair competition
Imagine that our local soccer and basketball teams were both scheduled for away games against their arch-rival on the afternoon and evening of the same day (forget seasons, and just humor me on this).
Celebration of Lights next week
This is an invitation to our Jay County community to join the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary for our 19th annual Celebration of Lights.
Community thanksgiving is set
To the editor: Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching and the committee for the 22nd Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is again busy preparing to serve a hearty festive meal to hundreds of individuals.
Thankful for gesture
On Monday, November 12, the Ponderosa restaurant in Portland offered a free meal to any veteran.
Remember to shop locally
It is hard to believe that Christmas is just a few weeks away. As you begin to make your Christmas shopping list I would encourage you to shop locally.
Thankful for the assistance
To the editor: This community is absolutely amazing. Once again you stepped up to the challenge of the Thanksgiving season with an unbelievable response to the community dinner.
Seizure of dogs unfair
To the editor: Ready, shoot, aim, is the sentiment that expresses the grave injustice recently bestowed upon a husband and wife team whose break-even business was rescuing, loving, reviving and placing unwanted dogs that are otherwise euthanized.
Giving thanks for WinterFest help
On behalf of the Jay County WinterFest Committee I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the businesses, organizations, and individuals that had a part in making the 2012 Jay County Chamber of Commerce WinterFest a huge success.
Seniors can help humane society
To the editor: Senior citizens and senior pets have something in common: Both are overlooked because of their age.
A dose of 'Reality'
Eighth graders at East Jay and West Jay middle schools experienced Reality Store recently.
Society says thanks
To the editor: The Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St., Portland, is nearing the close of another successful year.
Compassion is a comfort for family
To the editor: I would like to share a little story with everyone.
Bread man a local fixture
To the editor: I would like to recognize someone who has become a fixture to us and many others in Jay County and the surrounding area.
Upset over prospect of wind farm
To the editor: I just got home from the Jay County Planning Commission meeting (on Thursday, Dec. 13). To say that the meeting didn’t go well, from my viewpoint, would be an understatement.
Council thanks volunteers
As I write this my mind thinks of a logo, “Jay County — A Place to Grow.”
