While work on the Meridian Street (U.S. 27) storm sewer project in Portland progressed to the north this week with the reopening of the street from the Salamonie River to Main Street, work is also continuing with the replacement of the Indiana 26 (Water Street) bridge over the Salamonie River on the eastern edge of the city. Pictured above is the status of the bridge work as of Wednesday. The Indiana Department of Transportation project is scheduled for completion in mid November. (The Commercial Review/Ray Cooney)
