Asbury United Methodist Church recently donated to East Jay Elementary School in honor of Lee Newman, who was principal at what was then East Jay Middle School for 13 years and was vice chair of the church council at the time of his death in November. The church provided school supplies and $1,000 to reduce school lunch debt. The church raised funds via a fish fry last month.
