Chiefs handle Driver, 42-20

Nine players scored points as the East Jay Middle School eighth grade basketball team picked up its first win of the season Monday.
The Chiefs dominated visiting Winchester Driver, 42-20.
East Jay’s seventh graders lost 27-19.
Ryan and Michael Schlechty totaled eight points apiece for the eighth graders (1-2). Brandon McIntire and Elijah Corwin each had six points, and Gavin Randall and Korbin Auker both scored four. Isaac Moeller, Parker Grimes and Matthew Franks each chipped in with two.
Gabe Link led the seventh graders (1-2) with nine points. Noah Arbuckle and Chase McFarland had four points each, and Sheldon Upp tallied two.

East Jay girls fall
WINCHESTER — East Jay’s eighth grade girls basketball team dropped its first game of the season in a 45-43 defeat on the road against Driver.
The seventh graders also lost, 49-10.
Kendra Muhlenkamp and Gwen Omstead led the Chief eighth graders (3-1) with 17 and 19 points respectively. Klarissa Hemmelgarn tallied nine points, and Hannah Phillips scored four points.
Taylor May scored five points for the seventh grade Cheifs (1-3). Mikele Suman and Mackynzie Fairchild both had two points.

Eagles top Bruins
DUNKIRK — Rhegan Shimp scored 11 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the West Jay eighth grade girls basketball team’s 25-18 win against Blackford.
The Eagle seventh graders fell 8-3.
Kendal Garringer scored six points and had four steals for the eighth graders (1-0). Dawn Minnick and Kensey Litton added five and three points respectively.
Allison Jobe scored the only three points for the eighth grade Eagles (0-1). Hallie Fields and Lexus Harding both had four steals.
