Marion Local tops Tribe in overtime

MARIA STEIN, Ohio — Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team had a six-point lead heading into the fourth quarter on Thursday.
The advantage slipped away in the final eight minutes, and the Indians were held to just two points in overtime in a 51-49 loss to the host Marion Local Flyers.
It was the second consecutive loss for the Tribe (2-2, 0-1 Midwest Athletic Conference), which turned the ball over 17 times.
Jocelyn Kaiser scored a career-high 18 points for the Indians, who shot 60 percent from the field compared to the Flyers’ 40.4 percent. Kaiser was 9-of-11 shooting with three assists and one rebound.
Tori Lennartz also reached double figures for Fort Recovery. The senior tallied 10 points and had a game high seven rebounds — all of which came at the defensive end of the court.
Allison Thobe had 18 points to lead the Flyers, who had three players score 10 or more points.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team won, 23-20.
Sydney Dues had a team-high 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Carley Stone added eight points and Chloe Metzger tallied five.

Stars fall to Jets

BERNE — The South Adams wrestling team couldn’t match up with the strength of county rival Adams Central on Thursday.
The Jets pinned the host Starfires three times and capitalized on a trio of forfeits in a 50-18 victory.
Brothers Sawyer and Wyatt Miller got the only two pins for the Starfires (0-1, 0-1 Allen County Athletic Conference). Sawyer pinned Gabe Schwoller in 2 minutes, 58 seconds, in the 126-pound weight division. Wyatt needed only 40 seconds to deposit Anthony Moser at 113.
Isaiah Baumgartner (195) and Mason Morningstar (HWT) won by decision for South Adams.

Tribe 8th win
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s eighth grade boys basketball team picked up a 47-40 home victory Thursday against Marion Local.
The Tribe seventh graders lost, 38-16.
Clayton Pearson scored 19 points for the eighth grade Indians, and Payton Jutte had 11 points.
For the FRMS seventh graders, Jared Timmerman and Grant Knapke had six points apiece.
