Fort Recovery boys win back-to-back games

WAYNESFIELD, Ohio — The Indians weren’t shooting well through their first three games of the season.
They have since turned things around, which has led to back-to-back victories after starting the season with three straight losses.
Fort Recovery’s boys basketball team shot nearly 50 percent Tuesday in a 63-55 win over the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers.
The Tribe (2-3) had a one-point lead after the opening quarter, but exploded for 20 points in the second to take a 10-point advantage into intermission.
Midway through the third quarter the Tigers cut the deficit to two, 39-37, but buckets by Micaiah Cox and Kyle Schroer gave the Indians an eight-point advantage heading into the final frame
Cox paced the offense for the Indians, scoring a game-high 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Schroer joined Cox in double figures with 10 points, and Caleb Martin had eight points.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 45-34. Jason Roessner had a game-high 13 points, and Cade Wendel added eight.
FR freshman fall
FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s freshman boys basketball team had a tough time scoring on Monday.
It was held to single-digit point totals in all four quarters in a 39-29 road loss to the Fort Loramie Redskins.
Cade Wendel led the Indians with seven points. Eddie Siefring and Evan Post both had six points, and Ryan Braun tallied four points.
FRMS seventh wins
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Middle School’s seventh grade girls basketball team beat Delphos St. Johns on Tuesday, 32-27.
The Tribe eighth graders fell, 35-32.
Val Muhlenkamp had eight points to lead the FRMS seventh graders. Olivia Homan, Chloe Showalter and Olivia Patch all had six points apiece.
For the Tribe eighth graders, Aleigh Jenkins had eight points and Brooke Gaerke totaled seven.
