MONTICELLO — Jay County High School’s wrestling team had 11 wrestlers place in the top eight Saturday as the Patriots finished seventh at the Twin Lakes Invitational.
The Patriots scored 143 points, edging eighth-place Lewis Cass by a half point. South Bend Riley blew away the competition to win with 247 points.
Frankfort was second with 154.5 points, and Western (151) finished third.
Junior Andy Kohler placed second in the 182-pound weight division, earning the best finish of any JCHS wrestler. Dallas Dudelston (132) was third, and Chris Pfeifer (285) took fourth.
Finishing fifth were Tyler Leonhard (152) and Levi Hummel (170). Gaven Hare (195) was sixth, with Seth Fugiett (106) and Tristan Atkins (120) placing seventh.
Colton Compton (126), Mitchell Frasher (138) and Ivan Hemmelgarn (145) all finished eighth.
Tribe girls win
GREENVILLE — Fort Recovery’s girls swim team won 10 of the 11 events Saturday on their way to 136 points and a first-place finish in the Greenville Invitational.
The Tribe boys were second with 36 points behind the host Green Wave, who scored 79 points.
In addition to winning two individual events apiece, sisters Carley and Cori Stone joined Sophie Timmerman and Alexis Bubp to set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 52.05 seconds.
Carley was first in both the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Cori won the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Timmerman earned victories in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Bubp picked up wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle.
Mackinley Timmerman was the lone victor for the Tribe boys, placing first in the 100 breaststroke.

Star boys get first win
ROCKFORD, Ohio — South Adams’ boys basketball team snapped a 21-game losing streak Saturday with a 55-39 victory against the host Parkway Panthers.
It marked the first win for South Adams since Dec. 3, 2013.
A 20-point first quarter helped the Starfires (1-4) jump out to a 20-8 lead after eight minutes and pushed their lead to 14 at halftime, 32-18.
The Starfires’ Jared Grabau led all payers with 17 points, and Conner Sealscott tallied 13. Brody Adams led Parkway with 11 points.
