JCHS volleyball
MONROE - The Patriots faced another Adams County opponent Tuesday. They got a much different result.
After picking up a four-game win over South Adams Monday, the Jay County High School volleyball team struggled to slow down the Adams Central Flying Jets' offense Tuesday in a 25-8, 25-15, 25-20 loss.
Senior Chelsea Grady led the Patriots with nine digs and three assists as they fell to 2-4 on the year. Fellow senior Kelci Reed totaled six points and four digs.
Amy Alig had three kills, and Sarah Westgerdes followed with two. Kristi Morningstar and Kelsey Wood each had two points, and Mariah Hornaday recorded a block.
Junior varsity
Jay County slipped to 3-3 on the season with a 25-14, 17-25, 15-7 loss to the Flying Jets.
Becky Muhlenkamp had three kills and six points to lead the Patriots. Sierra Weatherhead had nine points, and Maria Murphy followed with six.
Tanner Martin finished with three assists, Taylor Burris notched a pair of blocks and Kassi Hemmelgarn totalled two kills.
Freshman
The Patriots dropped their first match of the season, 25-20, 25-8, to Adams Central.
Alyssa Rigby paced Jay County with nine digs, seven points and two kills, all of which were team highs. Jen Dirksen had threee points and two kills, and Whitni Somers added three assists and two kills.[[In-content Ad]]
