Bader breaks more records

Bader set new team records in the 50-yard freestyle and 50 butterfly Tuesday, but the Jay County middle school girls swim team fell 110-73 to South Adams.
The boys’ squad beat the Starfires, 110-65.
Bader swam to a time of 25.76 seconds in the 50 freestyle, beating the previous record of 25.93 set by her cousin, JCHS sophomore Anne Vormohr. She also improved her 50 butterfly record by more than one second with a time of 26.75.
Tayler Smeltzer was the only other double-event winner, placing first in the 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle for the boys.
Noah Hummel (400 freestyle), Alex LeMaster (100 breaststroke) and Cody Moser (diving) all won their respective events for the JCMS boys. On the girls’ side, Courtney Miles also placed first in 1-meter diving.
Kaitlyn Dow, Erica Hathway, Elizabeth McDowell and Bader teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay.
Christopher McDowell and Luke Nichols joined Smeltzer and Hummel to take first in the 200 medley relay. Smeltzer, Hummel, Moser and LeMaster won the 200 freestyle relay.
Eagles top Tigers
DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School
wrestling team closed its season with a 29-21 victory Tuesday over the Bluffton Tigers.
Ryan Hough (102-pound weight division) and Logan Drumm (125) both earned first-period pins. Brenden Lawhorn (105) earned a 13-0 major decision, and Gavin Corwin (110), Devin Wagner (120), Nathan Hamilton (145), Dawson Seyler (175) and Nick Overla (HWT) all won by decision.
In reserve action, Sean Ashley (90), Keegan Kane (150), Larkin Alsip (220) and Hough all picked up wins, as the Eagles ended their season with a 4-7 record.

Outcalt 7th at state
WEST LAFAYETTE — Hannah Outcalt placed seventh Sunday the 2014 Level 2/3 North State Gymnastics Championships at Purdue University.
The Redkey Elementary fifth grader, who competes out of Mid-America Gymnastics in Marion, posted identical scores of 9.15 on the balance beam and uneven bars. She was third and fourth respectively.
She also added an 8.95 on the floor exercise and an 8.85 on the vault, for an all-around score of 36.275.
