Bader, Miller pace Jay Co. (02/25/08)

WARREN - Alex Bader and Sam Miller finished as high-point award winners to lead the Jay County Winter Swim Team at the Pro-Otter Swim Invitational.

Bader took the top spot in the 8-and-younger girls division, winning all of her nine events. Miller had three victories in the 15-and-older division.

Sophie Bader and James Keen each matched Miller with three vicotries, and Anne Vormohr added two. Also picking up wins were Carley Stone, Danny Mart and Katy Smeltzer.

Other top-three efforts came from Aaron Hudson, Mary Hudson, Mitchell Kaverman, Caitline Mark, Sly Miller and Eme Miller.

Star-Pats go 2-1

MUNCIE - The Jay Volleyball Club Star-Pats opened their season Sunday with a 2-1 record at the Muncie Wave tournament.

The team, made up of Jay County and South Adams high school players, defeated Civic 25-20, 25-23 and the host Wave 18-25, 25-17, 15-9. The only defeat came by a 25-23, 25-17 score to the Panthers.

Team members are Sarah Westgerdes, Chelsea Grady, Amy Alig and Becky Muhlenkamp of JCHS and Hali Feaster, Jacie Yoder and Sarah Richert of SAHS.[[In-content Ad]]
