Bader wins 5, but Jay swimmers fall (06/20/08)
Jay County Summer Swim Team
BLUFFTON - If Alex Bader had been able to enter a few more events, the result may have been different.
Bader won five times Thursday night, but the Jay County Summer Swim Team lost 580-472 to host Wells Community. The home team took 10 of 16 relays, and Jay County dropped to 3-2 on the year.
The 8-and-younger girls division belonged to Bader as she won five of the six individual events. She was first in the short freestyle, long freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke.
Anne Vormohr, Mary Hudson and Cori Vormohr each added three wins, with Anne Vormohr first in the 9-10-year-old girls butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke. Hudson took the 13-14-year-old girls long freestyle, individual medley and breststroke, and Cori Vormohr won the 15-and-older girls long freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke.
Eme Miller and Neal Fennig each added a pair of victories, and Ian James, Cori Stone, Sophie Bader, Haley Confer, Katy Smeltzer, Carli Ostrowski, Zane Shreve, Wiley Young and Joey Miller picked up one win apiece.
