Tribe gridders fall short

A first-quarter safety cost Fort Recovery’s eighth grade team a victory as it lost 14-8 to the New Bremen Cardinals Thursday while the seventh grade team fell a touchdown short in a 14-8 defeat.

The Indian eighth grade team trailed 9-0 at the half, but Greg Kahlig pulled the squad within three points with a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Kahlig scored again on a 20-yard pass from Michael Gaerke in the fourth quarter and he ran in the two-point conversion, but it was not enough as the Cardinals also scored a touchdown in the final period for the one-point win.

Adam Rohrer gave Fort Recovery’s seventh graders an 8-0 lead as he scored on a 1-yard run and got the two-point conversion in the opening period. New Bremen took the win with touchdowns in the second and third quarters.[[In-content Ad]]
