Big-scoring Eagles stay perfect (12/08/04)

DUNKIRK — The Eagles wanted to make sure they kept their undefeated record intact. So, they scored enough points to win two games.
West Jay’s seventh grade boys basketball team scored more points in the first half than the Wes-Del Warriors could in the entire game, improving to 6-0 with a 70-37 victory.
The eighth graders also came away with a win, 45-25.
Michael Daniels scored 21 points to power the seventh graders, who scored 22 points in the first quarter and had a 41-25 lead at the half.
Drew Locke and Taylor Farmer also reached double-figures with 16 and 12 points respectively. Willie Mayfield added eight points.
The eighth grade team (3-3) rolled to its win after taking a 9-0 first quarter advantage. It was led by Jon Hawn with 13 points. Ty Fullenkamp added eight points, and Bobby Springer had seven.

UNION CITY — Six Chiefs scored more points than the entire Union City Westside team Tuesday as the East Jay eighth grade boys basketball team stormed to a 46-3 victory. The seventh grade squad also won big, 41-23.
The eighth graders rolled to 4-0 as Adam Garringer paced a balanced scoring attack with nine points. Cole Ingram, Billy Wellman and Colton Lombardo each added eight points.
Brad Horn scored 14 points to lead the seventh graders, who improved to 2-2. Eric Homan had nine points, and Austin Emerick added six.
Muhlenkamp paces WJ
PONETO — Brittany Muhlenkamp was the only West Jay player to reach double figures Tuesday, but it was enough for the seventh grade girls basketball team to post a 25-16 victory over Southern Wells. The eighth grade team lost 48-16.
Muhlenkamp racked up 13 points, and the Eagles pulled away with 13 points in the fourth quarter. Keri VanSkyock added six points and Amber McCowan scored four as they stayed perfect at 4-0.
The eighth graders got nine points from Kelci Reed. Jessica Piercey added four points, and Chelsea Grady had three.[[In-content Ad]]
