Playing strongly and with a fine season record behind them, the Jay County Patriots boys tennis team came up short Friday in the Marion Sectional, falling to Blackford 3-2.

Foreign student Matthias Scherer, who has been a solid part of the JCHS team this fall, ended the season at 6-3 after winning over Blackford’s Andy Langdon 6-3 and 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Randy Evans and Tyler Rigby is still alive in tournament play thanks to defeating Blackford’s Bret Ashley and Travis Stroud to go undefeated in the sectional. They’ll play on Tuesday at the Peru Regional.
