Boles paces EJ 7th grade

PARKER CITY - East Jay Middle School's volleyball teams took a split Wednesday against the host Monroe Central Golden Bears. The seventh grade team rolled to a 25-11, 25-7 victory while the eighth graders fell 25-21, 22-25, 15-7.
Larissa Boles paced the seventh grade Chiefs (11-3) with 13 points and five aces. Catherine Dunn had four digs, Laurann Schoenlein put up three assists and Emily Westgerdes and Michelle Wellman each added three kills.
Katie Aker had seven points and four kills for the EJMS eighth graders (9-5). Tasya Smith totaled six points, and Abbi Dunlavy had five kills.
Walter leads WJ
Dan Walter led the West Jay eighth grade football team to a 14-7 win Wednesday over Union City Westside.
The eighth graders lost 24-18 to fall to 2-3.
Walter scored the game-winning TD with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter for the eighth graders (3-2). He also had a 15-yard scoring run in the first quarter and added a 2-point conversion.
James Williams ran for TDs of 25 and 38 yards for the seventh grade squad. He also had a touchdown on a 60-yard kickoff return.
