Local roundup

DECATUR - Jay County's boys soccer team dropped its second straight game Wednesday, falling 3-0 to the host Bellmont Braves.

The Patriots put together a run of four straight victories, but lost 2-1 to South Adams Saturday before the defeat against Bellmont. They are now 4-3 this season.

Bellmont reached double digits with 10 shots on goal, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second. Jay County totaled five shots on goal.

Derek Mills finished with seven saves.

Jay County also lost the junior varsity match, 3-2. Both Patriot goals came on penalty kicks by Brad Horn.

Chief runners top HC

Katie Butcher and Leah Wellman shared the top spot in leading the East Jay Middle School girls cross country team to a 16-47 win over Hartford City Wednesday. Both Chief boys teams won as Hartford City did not have enough runners for a team score in either race.
