Celina, Rockets split 2 (06/09/08)

CELINA, Ohio - The Portland Rockets rode Mitch Waters to a game-one win Sunday, but still had to settle for a split.
Portland took the first game 2-1 before falling 6-3 to the Grand Lake Mariners in the second half of the double-header.
The opener was tied at one after seven innings before Jay County High School graduate Cory Locke drove in a run in the top of the eighth. Waters (JCHS - 2002) shut down the Mariners in the bottom of the frame to finish off a seven-hitter.
Waters gave up a run in the first inning before tossing seven scoreless as he struck out eight batters. Riley Mullenkamp finished with two hits.
Corey Murray took the loss in game two, giving up six runs while striking out three. Josh Atkinson (JCHS) did not allow a run as he finished off the game on the mound.
Ryan Shell had the lone extra-base hit for the Rockets, who are now 3-2 on the year.[[In-content Ad]]
