MUNCIE — South Adams’ softball team pulled to within a game of .500 Saturday with an 8-2 trouncing of the Muncie Central Bearcats.
The game was tied at one after four innings, but the Starfires (6-7) scored three times in the top of the fifth and four more in the top of the sixth for the victory.
Kayla Coblentz powered the offense with a hit, two runs and an RBI. Brooke Fox scored three runs, and Jordan Lehman had a pair of hits.
Ashton Morgan earned her first win of the year, allowing two runs on five hits. She struck out three and walked three.

NEW PARIS, Ohio — The Indians scored a season-worth of runs Saturday.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity softball team hit the half-century mark, defeating the National Trail Blazers 25-12 and 25-5 Saturday.
Joanna Snyder and Kelly Sudhoff each had four hits in the opener, in which the Indians scored nine runs in the first inning and seven each in the second and sixth. Kyla Metzger and Carla Guggenbiller each scored four runs.
Fort Recovery (3-7) capped the day with 13 runs in the fifth inning of game two.
Heather Schmackers finished with three hits, including a home run, and five RBIs. Snyder and Becca Brunswick each had three hits and three runs, and Amy Hart had three runs and three RBIs.

NEW PARIS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s junior varsity baseball team regrouped after allowing eight runs in the opening inning Saturday and salvaged a double-header split. The Indians (7-7) lost 9-6 in the first game, but took game two 7-4.
Travis Hart paced the victory, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. Frank Thien had two hits, and Matt Braun scored a pair of runs.
Hart also got the win as he gave up four hits in seven innings. Braun took the game-one defeat.
