DECATUR — The East Jay seventh grade volleyball team completed its season with a victory. The eighth grade team will still get another chance.
The seventh graders split the first two games against Bellmont Monday, but rallied for a 15-8 victory in the third to take the match. The eighth grade Chiefs, who will host the East Jay eighth grade invitational Saturday, lost to Bellmont 21-12, 21-10.
Lindsey Wellman scored six points for the seventh grade team. She also shared a team-high with three digs.
Jamie Klinger scored a team-best seven points, and Kelsey Wood also had three digs. Pazia Speed finished with three kills.
Sarah Westgerdes notched three points and three kills for the eighth grade team. She scored all of her points on aces.
Kaelee Keller added three points, and Mackenzie Loy and Cori Vormohr came up with four digs apiece.
Schedule change
East Jay Middle School’s football games against Hartford City, which were scheduled for today, have been moved. The Chiefs will play at home against Hartford City Thursday at 6 p.m.
Fort tickets
Tickets to Fort Recovery’s football game Friday at New Bremen will go on sale Wednesday.
Tickets will be sold in the high school office Wednesday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tickets will also be sold in the middle school office Thursday from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
Advance tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $5.
AAU tryouts
Tryouts for the Jay County fourth grade AAU boys basketball team are today. They will be held at the Jay County High School gym from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
