Chiefs crush UC West Side

UNION CITY — The East Jay Middle School girls basketball teams each evened their record at 1-1 with victories Monday over Union City West Side. The seventh grade Chiefs rolled to a 41-4 victory while the eighth graders won 40-9.
Gabby Hart finished with 16 points for the seventh grade squad, which shut out West Side in the first half. Sydney Robbins scored seven points, and Rachel Antrim and Cheyenne Loy each added four.
Catherine Dunn’s 17 points led the eighth grade squad, which held West Side without a point in the fourth quarter. Breanne McIntire followed with nine points, and Lucy Hemmelgarn and Malarie Houck scored six apiece.

Eagles split
DUNKIRK — West Jay’s seventh grade boys basketball team defeated Blackford 29-24 Monday. The eighth grade squad lost 36-30.
Kyler Carvel led the Eagle seventh graders (2-1) with 14 points. Daniel Meranda had nine points and four rebounds.
Nate Brackman scored 20 points for the WJMS eighth grade team.[[In-content Ad]]
