Chiefs swim past Eagles

MUNCIE — The East Jay Middle School girls swim team opened its season Monday, cruising to victory over the host Delta Eagles, 104-82.
The EJMS boys lost to the Eagles, 99-86.
Elizabeth McDowell and Alex Bader were both dual-event winners for the Chiefs.
Bader won the 100-yard individual medley and the 50 butterfly and McDowell placed first in the 200 and 400 freestyle.
Erica Hathaway (50 freestyle) Kaitlyn Dow (100 freestyle) and Breea Liette (100 breastroke) all won their respective swimming events. Courtney Miles was first in the diving competition.
The Chiefs also won both relay events as well. McDowell, Dow, Hathaway and Bader combined to win the 400 freestyle relay, and McDowell, Liette, Bader and Hathaway won the 200 medley relay.
For the East Jay boys, Tayler Meltzer (50 butterfly), Alex LeMaster (100 freestyle) and Luke Nichols (100 breaststroke) picked up victories for the Chiefs.

Stutz leads Eagles
DUNKIRK — Jordan Stultz scored 12 points Monday as the West Jay eighth grade boys basketball team capped off its home schedule with a 35-19 win over Monroe Central.
The West Jay seventh graders also beat the Golden Bears, 26-16.
Cole Stigleman joined Stultz in double figures, scoring 10 points as the duo combined for more points than the entire Monroe Central team.
Garrett Rodgers scored six points and Max Moser added three to support Stigleman and Stultz.
Holton Hill and Trent Fullenkamp each scored two points.
For the WJMS seventh graders, Nick Raines scored 10 points, grabbed two rebounds and had a pair of assists.
Gabe Faulkner had six points, five rebounds and two assists, and Kobe Bennett scored four points to go with his five rebounds.
Wyatt Geesaman led the Eagles with eight rebounds and three blocks. Noah Harris grabbed five rebounds and Matthew Paquette had two.

Chiefs top Blackford
The East Jay sixth grade girls basketball teams both defeated Blackford Monday.
East Jay’s A-team defeated the Bruins 19-12, and the B-team won 6-2.
Taylor May, Mikele Suman, Sarah Muhlenkamp and Macey Weitzel all scored four points for the Chiefs’ A-team. Anhely Montes added two and Makenzie Fairchild had one.
Barbara LeMaster, Adriana Stein and Weitzel all scored two points for the East Jay B-team.
The Chiefs play Muncie Northside at 5 p.m. tonight for their final home game of the season.[[In-content Ad]]
