HARTFORD CITY - East Jay Middle School walked away with a pair of victories Wednesday night.
The seventh grade team held off Hartford City in three games, winning 25-17, 24-25, 15-9. The eighth graders took a couple of close games for a 25-23, 25-21 victory.
Abbey Vance led the eighth grade Chiefs (10-5) with 14 points and seven digs, and Katie Reier added five digs and four kills. Mikayla Wellman scored 10 points, Hannah Ainsworth had seven assists and Paige Lennartz and Jill Dirksen each added five digs. Sam Homan and Rachelle Jackson each had four kills.
Katlin Petro had eight aces and four kills for the East Jay seventh grade team (12-2). Katie Aker totaled six kills, Bailey Weatherhead put up six assists and Ali Inman added three digs.
