Clark leads Knights in assists (10/06/07)
Collegiate Check-up
Erica Clark came up big as her teamed traveled to southern Indiana for a pair of matches.
Clark, a 2007 JCHS graduate, led the Marion College volleyball team in assists as the team scored victories of 26-30, 30-27, 30-28, 30-27 over host IU-Southeast and 30-19, 30-25, 30-27 over Lindsey Wilson.
The freshman had 46 assists on the day. She also added 12 digs and one ace for the Knights (8-8).
Clark and sophomore teammate Kelly Wisser combined for 30 assists in Marian's 30-24, 30-18, 30-27 loss Thursday to Huntington University. For the season, she is second on the team to Wisser with 582 assists, an average of 5.82 per game. She also had 21 digs, 15 blocks and nine kills.
Alyssa Johnson
Jay County - 2006
Capped a string of three Taylor University runners Oct. 1 to help lead the women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the 12-team Earlham Invitational.
Johnson finished 10th in the race in 20-minutes, 16 seconds, finishing behind teammates Hilary Pederson (eighth - 20:04) and Elise Knapp (ninth - 20:06).
Tiff Gaerke

Saw action in the 16th straight victory for the No. 15 Dayton University women's volleyball team.
Gaerke had six kills in the Flyers' 30-21, 30-21, 30-21 victory Sept. 28 over Rhode Island. She also added one kill and one ace. Dayton went on to top Fordham in three games to improve to 17-0.
The freshman has played in eight matches this year, recording 17 digs, 15 kills, five aces and a pair of blocks.
Jill Roughia
Jay County - 2005
Led her Huntington University women's cross country team as it competed Sept. 29 at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational.
Roughia finished 127th in the large field of runners with a time of 25-minutes, 57 seconds.
Joscie Kaup
Fort Recovery - 2004
Paced the Syracuse University women's volleyball team in digs in each of its last two matches.
Kaup finished with 14 digs for the Orange (10-8) in their three-game loss Sunday to Cincinnati. She also had a pair of assists in the match.
The school's all-time digs leader also had 11 digs Sept. 29 in a loss to Louisville.
Kaups' 307 digs this season rank her No. 1 in the Big East. She is second in the conference at 4.87 digs per game.

Ran for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's cross country team at the Sept. 29 Earlham Invitational.
Ian Thomas finished 28th overall in 28-minutes, 26 seconds. His twin brother Mitchell was right on his tail in 29th at 28:30. The Engineers finished second at the meet behind Otterbein.
Luke McClung
Jay County - 2007
Saw time in each of the last two games for the Anderson University men's soccer team.
McClung played 19 minutes against Rose-Hulman Tuesday after getting in the Sept. 29 contest against Transylvania for three minutes. The Ravens lost both games 5-0.
Joseph Vormohr

Made another start on the offensive line Sept. 29 for the Hanover College Football team.
Vormohr started at center in the team's 24-7 loss to Rose-Hulman.
