Coldwater edges Indians

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians played another close conference game Tuesday, but they are still looking for their first league win.
After scoring in three of the first four innings, the Fort Recovery High School baseball team went without a run in the final three as the Coldwater Cavaliers came back to beat the Tribe 6-5.
Coldwater scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good over the Indians (4-11, 0-3 Midwest Athletic Conference), who have lost each of their MAC games by a single run. They also fell 11-10 to Versailles in eight innings and 6-5 to Parkway.
Jared Kahlig took the loss, giving up six runs on seven hits and five walks as he went the distance. He struck out two batters.
Blake Boughman finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Chad Schroer had a single and two runs.

Kahlig wins three
ST. HENRY, Ohio — Kylie Kahlig turned in another three-win evening Tuesday as the Fort Recovery girls track team scored 69 points to finish third in a four-team meet behind St. Henry (83.5) and New Bremen (75.5). New Knoxville was last with 25.
The Indian boys (25) were fourth behind St. Henry (100), New Bremen (92) and New Knoxville (39).
Kahlig picked up victories in the sprints, taking the 100-meter dash in 13.3 seconds and the 200 dash in 27.4. She also finished first with a toss of 35 feet, 10 inches, in the shot put.
Aaron Vagedes took the boys 100 dash and 200 dash in 11.9 and 24.4 respectively, and Jessica Vogel won the girls 800 run in 2 minutes, 42.2 seconds.


Softball skid hits 13
FORT RECOVERY — The losing streak for the Indians reached 13 games Tuesday as they fell 18-7 to the Fort Loramie Redskins.
Fort Recovery never led as the Redskins scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings.
Beca Tobe went five innings in the loss, giving up 12 runs — nine earned — on 12 hits and six walks while striking out one. Ashley Homan allowed six runs — five earned — on seven hits in two innings of relief.
Taylor Guggenbiller went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and three runs to pace the offense for the Tribe (2-13). Melissa Lochtefeld had three hits and three RBIs, and Karissa Will finished with two hits and two runs.

JV baseball loses
COLDWATER, Ohio — Fort Recovery struggled offensively and defensively Tuesday as it suffered a 16-0, five-inning loss to the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Coldwater took control with four runs in the first inning and also scored five apiece in the second and fourth. The Indians committed five errors.
Mike Joash suffered the loss, giving up nine runs — six earned — on two hits and 10 walks in two innings.
Fort Recovery (1-13) finished the game with just one hit, a single by Derek Backs.
