Cope, Bellis power Chiefs

Corey Bellis and Dylan Cope each won three events Wednesday to power the East Jay Middle School boys track team to a 78-22 victory over Hartford City.
Malarie Houck and Tasya Smith led the girls team to a 93-7 win.
Bellis finished first in the hurdles in 18.05 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 28.3. He also won the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.
Cope also had a field-event win, taking the long jump at 14 feet, 6 inches. He was first in the 400 dash in 1:02.4 and the 1,600 run at 5:33.
Bellis joined Josh Priest, Trent Whitenack and Willy Skiver for first in the 4x100 relay in 55 seconds, and Cope, Priest, Skiver and J.D. Mangus won the 4x400 relay.
Houck finished first in the girls hurdles in 18.3 and the long jump at 13 feet, 1 inch. Smith was first at 14.03 in the 100 dash and 31.3 in the 200 dash.
Also winning events for the boys team were Zach Fullenkamp (100 dash), Cody Bellis (shot put) and Trent Whitenack (discus). Other winners for the girls were Abigail Johnson (1,600 run), Amber Huelskamp (400 dash), Stephanie Hudson (800 run), Jennifer Braun (shot put) and Megan Stocker (discus).
Jalen Ryder had two wins to lead the boys B team to a 97-2 victory, and Chelsea Russell won one event and placed second in two in the girls B team's 91-9 win.
SA rolls over Heritage
MONROEVILLE - Evan Liechty and Alex Kistler each won two events Tuesday to power the South Adams Middle School boys track team to a 69-39 win over host Heritage.
Liechty led the Starfires in the distance events. He took the 800-meter run in 2-minutes, 20 seconds and the 1,600 run in 5:08.
Kistler handled the sprints, winning the 100 dash in 13 seconds flat and the 200 dash in 26.9. Kyle Cox was first in the 100 hurdles in 20.2.
Andrew Steffen won the 400 dash in 1:00, and Cam Lengerich was first with a leap of 13 feet, 7 ½ inches in the long jump.[[In-content Ad]]
