Now that Sophie Bader and Anne Vormohr own just about every team record, they’ve started trading them.
Each cousin broke one of the other’s records Thursday as the Jay County Summer Swim Team improved to 2-1 with a 652-543 victory over visiting Wells Community.
Vormohr broke team and pool records in the 13-14-year-old girls long freestyle, winning in 1 minute, 2.06 seconds, to snap the mark held by Bader. She also bettered her own pool record in the backstroke with a time of 31.86 seconds, and won the short freestyle.
In the other record-breaking swim of the evening, Bader took down Vormohr’s pool record in the 200-yard individual medley with a winning time of 2:35.71. She added victories in the butterfly and breaststroke.
Bader’s sisters each added three victories apiece, with Mara taking the 8-and-younger butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke. Eliza picked up wins in the 9-10-year-old long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley, and Alex earned victories in the 11-12-year-old butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke.
Three Jay County swimmers combined to sweep the 15-and-older girls events, with Katy Smeltzer winning in the butterfly and short freestyle, Mary Hudson taking the individual medley and breaststroke and Eme Miller finishing first in the long freestyle and backstroke. Adding two wins apiece were Abilene Hough (8-and-younger individual medley and short freestyle), Lilly Clemmons (9-10-year-old girls backstroke and short freestyle) and Ian Reynolds (13-14-year-old boys long freestyle and backstroke).
Single wins came from Elayna Paro, Konner Sommers, Ashlyn Dow, Mark Habegger, Alex LeMaster, Kaitlyn Dow, Sok Vormohr and Alex Sutton.
