Crider leads South Adams

HARTFORD CITY - Tricia Crider paced the South Adams High School girls golf team Thursday as it finished third in the Blackford Invitational.

She also had the low score Wednesday as the Starfires defeated the Wes-Del Warriors in their season-opener.

Crider's 98 at the Blackford tournament led SAHS to a score of 442, which put them behind Wabash (396) and the host Bruins (404) in the seven-team event.

She finished her round with the Starfires' lone birdie of the day on the par-4 18th hole. She also had a par and eight bogeys.

Jansen Yoder recorded two pars on the way to a 108. Grace Dobler shot 116, and Kaytlyn Pierce had a par as she rounded out the team score with a 120.

On Wednesday, Crider had two pars and a birdie as she shot 42 to lead the Starfires to a 210-237 win over Wes-Del. Pierce finished with a 52, and Yoder and Dobler each shot 58.

Sam Schwartz paced the junior varsity team with a 61.

Tribe loses 1st

CELINA, Ohio - Jared Kahlig was the lone Indian to record multiple pars as the Fort Recovery High School boys golf team lost Wednesday in its season opener.

The Tribe scored a 202 at Mercer County Elks Golf Club while Botkins won the three-team match at 183. Mississinawa Valley was second at 196.

Kahlig opened with a par on the 10th hole, and recorded three in a row on 15, 16 and 17. He finished with a 42, while Eric Ambros of Botkins earned medalist honors with a 38.

Gage Retz also parred the 10th hole on the way to a 48. Derek Rammel and Shawn Roessner rounded out the team score with totals of 54 and 58 respectively.[[In-content Ad]]
