Depleted Patriots fall to Norwell (12/12/03)

Local Roundup

The Norwell Knights are tough enough as it is. Having about a third of the Jay County swim team out made competition almost impossible.

Depleted by illness the Patriots girls team took a 117-69 defeat Thursday, and the boys team lost 132-42. Each team managed just one victory on the evening.

Sarah Miller came through for the girls team (2-4) although it wasn’t an easy task. The senior kept her undefeated dual meet diving streak alive, winning by less than five points over Allison Alford with a score of 203.75.

The only victory for the boys team (1-2) came from Adam Miller. He squeaked past Eric Bucher in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.03 seconds.

The boys team will return to Ossian Saturday to take part in the Norwell Invitational at 9 a.m. Both teams will swim against South Adams at home Monday at 6 p.m.
