Devils defeat Jay Co. golfers (08/25/06)
JCHS girls golf
The Jay County girls golf team had a tough time on its home course Thursday, falling 175-213 to the Richmond Red Devils.
The Patriots (1-3), who were 20 strokes off their season-best score set Tuesday at Wabash Valley in Geneva, were led by Trisha Champ's 47 at Portland Golf Club. Richmond's top four scores were all in the 40s with match medalist Anna Trotter at 40 followed by Maggie Flynn (41), Melissa Messler (46) and Taylor Brown (48).
Miranda Denney followed Champ with a 53, Ashley Bunch shot 56 and Ivy Simons completed the team score with a 57. Jennifer Hunt finished at 62.
Junior varsity
Brittany Lewis and Brittany Schlater each had personal-best scores in junior varsity action with totals for 50 and 54 respectively. Richmond did not have enough JV players for a team score.
Other scores for the Patriots were Rachel Osterholt at 66, Cindy Muhlenkamp with a 68 and Holly Rittenhouse at 75.[[In-content Ad]]
