Eagle 8th grade victorious again (09/28/05)

UNION CITY — West Jay’s eighth grade team won for the second time in as many nights Tuesday.

The Eagles followed Monday’s 12-2 victory over Wes-Del by topping Union City Westside 22-7. The seventh grade squad fell to Westside, 6-0.

Drew Locke, who had one of West Jay’s two touchdown runs against Wes-Del, tossed a couple of touchdown passes in the victory over Westside.

Locke opened the scoring in the first quarter, connecting with Michael Daniels on a 10-yard touchdown pass. In the fourth quarter he tossed a 43-yard pass to John Pettus for the team’s final touchdown of the game. Locke also had a two-point conversion pass to Pettus.

Taylor Farmer was responsible for the other Eagle score on a 25-yard, third-quarter run. He added a two-point conversion run.

Ryan Miskinis led the seventh grade team in its defensive battle with Westside as he came up with a fumble recovery.

Delphos downs Indians

DELPHOS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s junior high squads could not keep up with the Delphos St. Johns Blue Jays Tuesday.

The eighth graders managed an early lead, but gave up touchdowns in each of the final three quarters for an 18-8 defeat. The seventh grade team was blanked 30-0.

Greg Kahlig passed for the only Indian touchdown, hitting Michael Gaerke from 18 yards out in the first quarter of the eighth grade game. Kahlig also ran in the two-point conversion.[[In-content Ad]]
