Eagle grapplers improve to 6-1 (02/18/05)

The West Jay wrestlers had a good night Thursday, squeaking out another win 39-33 over Randolph Southern. The Eagle sixth grade boys basketball teams weren’t as successful, with the A team falling 31-21 to Southern Wells and the B team losing 12-0.
West Jay’s wrestlers dominated the upper weight classes as Keri VanSkyock (145), Sha White (160), Travis Garringer (175) and Andrew Lancaster (HVY) all won. Stephen Sain (100) and Jerid Conatser (115) also earned victories as the Eagles improved to 6-1.
Zach Cash scored eight points for the basketball A team, and Anthony Skeens followed with six.
Brian Miskinis followed with five points.
West Jay girls split
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball teams split their games with Muncie Northside Wednesday. The A team rolled to 7-2 with a 24-10 win, and the B team dropped to 5-2 with a 26-10 defeat.
Abby Denney paced the A team with highs of eight points and three blocks. Cara Garringer added six points and three assists, and Brittany manor scored five points.
Danielle Link grabbed a team-best six rebounds, and Laura Castillo and Katie Geesaman each had four.
Ashley Kaupp led the Chief B team with four points. Sarah Davenport had four rebounds, and Selena McKibben notched three assists.
Ridgeville Little League
Registration for Ridgeville Lions Little League will begin Wednesday.
There will be registration sessions at the Ridgeville Volunteer Fire Department Wednesday, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26 from noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 2 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. The registration fee is $20 per child.
