DUNKIRK - West Jay Middle School's wrestling team picked up nine pins Tuesday in a 65-12 victory over visiting South Adams.
Justin Love (125) earned the fastest of those pins in 15 seconds, and Kris Clevenger (175) needed just one second longer. Bryce Bantz (85), Chase Louck (115) and Carrolton Fischer (120) also recorded pins in less than one minute.
Other pins came from Raistlin Rice (105), Justin Wiemer (135), Dylan Harris (145), Dylan Brotherton (152) and Mitch Bennett (160). Dustin Tighe (110) won by a 19-4 technical fall.
In junior varsity action, J.P. Fischer (80), Jesse Finnerty (100), Brett Rowles (115), Ernie Buckner (175) and Daniel Ring (HWT) won by pin.
Tribe 7th wins 11th
FORT RECOVERY - Elijah Kahlig led the Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team to a 38-31 victory Tuesday over Greenville. The eighth graders lost 45-30.
Kahlig scored 15 points as the Indian seventh grade squad improved to 11-2. Bobby Mattraw added 12 points.
Trent Kaiser scored 17 points for the Tribe eighth grade team (4-9), which trailed by just four at halftime but could not keep up with Greenville in the second half. Chas Schroer added seven points.
Fort falls to Flyers
MARIA STEIN, Ohio - The Fort Recovery Middle School girls basketball teams fell short Tuesday against the Marion Local Flyers. The eighth grade team lost 31-28, and the seventh graders fell 31-11.
Kelsey Fiely had nine points for the FRMS eighth graders, who dropped to 10-2. Chelsea Pottkotter added six points.
Kelsee Ontrop had eight points for the seventh grade team (2-10).
Dunn leads EJMS
East Jay Middle School's sixth grade girls basketball team rolled Tuesday over Union City Westside, 25-4.
Catherine Dunn scored 15 points as the Chiefs improved to 7-1. Chloe Steigerwalt grabbed eight rebounds.
Lucy Hemmelgarn had two points, seven rebounds and seven steals in the B team's 11-8 defeat.
