Eagles top HC (02/21/06)

HARTFORD CITY — West Jay’s sixth grade boys basketball team came home with a victory Monday, defeating host Hartford City 30-21.

Calvin Wyatt led the Eagles to the win with 3 points. Chance Fuller added seven points.

Carolton Fisher scored 12 points in a 37-20 defeat for the B team.

Vormohr, Klopp lead JC

MUNCIE — Cori Vormohr and Justin Klopp powered the Jay County Winter Swim Team as it competed at the Muncie Cardinal Winter Classic this weekend.

Vormohr posted four first-place finishes and was second in her only other race in the senior division. Klopp, also competing in the senior division, finished first in three events and second in two more.

Caitlin Mark had two second-place finishes and two third-place efforts.

Also finishing in the top three for Jay County were Laura Bowen, Evan Mathias and Anne Vormohr.

Eagle grapplers fall

DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School wrestling team got just a pair of wins in a 54-36 loss to the Monroe Central Golden Bears Monday.

Nathan Drumm and Dillon Easton got off the mat quickly, but they accounted for the Eagles’ only two contested victories of the night.

Drumm (105) scored a pin in 29 seconds, and Dillon Easton (145) finished his match in 54 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
