East Jay clobbers Richmond (09/23/05)

Taking each of the top 11 finishing positions, East Jay’s girls team dominated Richmond Dennis 15-50 Thursday. The Chief seventh grade boys won 18-43, and the eighth grade boys took an 18-37 victory.
Katie Simmons led the East Jay girls with a winning time of 13-minutes, 15 seconds. The top Richmond runner was Aurora Horn in 12th place in 15:04.
Simmons was followed by Katie Butcher in 13:37, Leah Wellman in 13:39 and LeAnn Horn in 13:42. Lindsay Moser rounded out the team score in fifth in 14:06.
The top five were followed immediately by six more East Jay runners: Deidre Chenoweth, Logan Laux, Mallory Poole, Erica Bruggeman, Erica Butcher and Carrie Schmitmeyer.
Both boys teams turned in one-two finishes. Tevan Nichols and Patrick Johnson topped the eighth grade squad again in times of 11:36 and 11:40 respectively, and Brad Leuthold and Ed Muhlenkamp led the seventh graders with times of 13:01 and 13:06.
Brad Horn was next for the eighth grade team in fourth in 12:39. Ben Brandt was fifth (13:08) and Ben Walter took sixth (13:10).
In fourth for the seventh graders was Garrett Krieg in fourth in 13:13. Jacob Heitkamp was fifth (13:37) and Seth Ainsworth took sixth (13:58).
Eagles defeat Montpelier
DUNKIRK — West Jay runners took first place in all three races Thursday.
The Eagle girls defeated Montpelier 25-30. The sixth and seventh grade boys scored 25 while Montpelier did not have enough runners for a team score. Neither eighth grade team was able to post a team score.
Kristin Selvey led the girls team to victory with her second straight win. She finished in 13-minutes, 53 seconds after taking the top spot at the Cowan Invitational Wednesday.
Macey Gerber placed fourth in 14:53, and Elizabeth Lennartz was fifth with a time of 14:56. Elise Jetmore was seventh with a time of 15:28, and Carley Weaver finished eighth in 15:34.
Chance Fuller and Wesley Price went one-two for the sixth and seventh grade boys in 14:09 and 14:12 respectively. Trey Aucker was fifth (16:20), Brandon Dishman placed eighth (17:54) and Zach Johnson took ninth (18:10).
