East Jay girls cruise past Bellmont (10/02/03)

Another one-two-three finish spelled another win for the East Jay girls cross country team Wednesday. The boys team did not have the same luck.
The Chiefs’ girls team used its power up top for a 19-36 victory over the Bellmont Squaws while the boys team fell to an 18-37 defeat.
Amanda Johnson paced the girls team with another victory in a time of 12:23. She was followed by Amber Detro in second in 12:34 and Kylie Wellman in third with a time of 12:45.
Cassandra Laux placed sixth for the Chiefs with a time of 14:24, and Brianne Wellman crossed the line seventh in 14:41.
Edwin Clott crossed the line nearly a minute faster than anyone else on the boys team in 11:20 for a third-place finish. Cody Sutton was seventh in 12:15, with Steven Kelly eighth in 12:20.
Leo Muhlenkamp placed 11th in a time of 12:37, and Justin Moser was 14th in 12:46.
Chiefs top Monroe Central
East Jay’s eighth grade volleyball team improved to 7-1 on the year with a 21-14, 21-13 victory over the Monroe Central Golden Bears Wednesday.
Shelby Rines went 5-of-7 serving for the Chiefs with a pair of aces. Abby Loy was 4-of-6 with one ace.[[In-content Ad]]
