East Jay girls earn 15th win
Middle school roundup
MUNCIE — East Jay Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team rolled to its 15th win Monday 47-22 over Muncie Northside. The seventh grade team lost 36-14.
Catherine Dunn racked up 13 points for the eighth grade Chiefs (15-2), who were up 21-0 after the opening period. Breanne McIntire added 10 points.
Rachel Antrim scored five points for the seventh grade team (14-3). Ava Kunkler finished with four points.
Starfires top Norwell
BERNE — The South Adams wrestling team cruised to another victory Monday, defeating visiting Norwell 55-17.
Picking up victories for the Starfires were Boaz Marbach, Gage Conner, Brock Twitty, David All, Gabe Schwartz, Arron Oyer, Ariel Williams and Kody Coates. Also adding wins were Sawyer Miller, Ryan Ford, Spencer Niece, Matt Nussbaum, Chance Sprunger, Kadin Gerber and Briar Goodwin.
Flyers beat Tribe
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s seventh grade boys basketball team suffered just its second loss Monday, 42-32 to the Marion Local Flyers. The eighth graders fell 29-23.
Jackson Hobbs scored more than two-thirds of his team’s points, finishing with 21 for the seventh grade Indians (10-2). Wes Wenning added nine points.
Cole Wendel finished with eight points as the eighth grade team fell to 2-10. Cole Hull scored four points.
Homan leads Chiefs
East Jay’s sixth grade girls basketball team dominated Blackford for a 40-7 victory Monday. In other sixth grade games, the East Jay boys lost 28-20 to Muncie Northside, and the West Jay girls fell 24-17 to Montpelier.
Taylor Homan totaled 10 points to lead the EJMS girls, who are perfect at 8-0. Gracie Runkle chipped in five points.
Ryan Burkett led the Chief boys with nine points, and Kyndal Miller scored four points for the West Jay girls.
In B team games, the WJMS girls won 19-11 while the East Jay boys fell 24-8. Lilly Rogers led the Eagles with eight points. Xavier Somers scored four points for the EJMS boys.[[In-content Ad]]
