East Jay places 3rd as invite host (10/03/05)

The Chiefs had a good day hosting the East Jay invitational Saturday, finishing at 3-1.
The East Jay eighth grade volleyball team went 2-1 in pool play with wins of 25-18, 25-17 over South Adams and 25-24, 25-21 against Bluffton. Its only loss came 25-20, 25-14 to Muncie Northside.
In the cross-over match against Adams Central the Chiefs took a 24-25, 25-22, 15-12 victory to finish third overall behind Muncie Wilson and Muncie Northside.
Results from the West Jay eighth grade team and the seventh grade tournament were not available at press time.
Lindsey Wellman paced East Jay at the tournament, finishing with team highs of 37 points, 18 aces and 12 kills for the four matches. She also had six digs, two assists and one block.
Ashley Langenkamp added 26 kills, 14 aces and eight digs. Pazia Speed had 12 digs and two blocks, and Kelsey Wood notched 10 kills.
Blue Jays flatten Fort
