East Jay rolls over Bellmont (09/29/05)

DECATUR — East Jay won all four races Wednesday, sweeping host Bellmont.
The Chief boys and girls varsity cross country teams won by matching scores, topping Bellmont 24-33. The junior varsity girls scored 15 points and the JV boys scored 19 while Bellmont did not have enough runners for a team score in either JV race.
Tevan Nichols and Patrick Johnson again led East Jay’s boys, finishing in first and second respectively. Nichols won the boys race in 11-minutes, 24 seconds, and Johnson was right behind him with a time of 11:29.
Brad Horn was sixth in 12:29, Bradley Leuthold placed seventh in 12:30 and Garrett Kreig was eighth in 12:24.
Katie Simmons took first for the East Jay girls team and fourth overall in 13:26. LeAnn Horn put together the best race of her career on her birthday, finishing just one second behind Simmons in fifth place.
Katie Butcher was seventh with a time of 13:35, Lindsay Moser finished eighth in 13:36 and Leah Wellman took ninth in 13:37.
The Chiefs took the top two spots in each of the JV races. Carrie Schmitmeyer was first for the girls as she crossed the finish line in 13:53, and Austin Bentz won the boys race with a time of 13:12.[[In-content Ad]]
