FORT RECOVERY — In their first home meet of the season, the Eels picked up their first win over Versailles.
Fort Recovery’s summer swim team got three wins apiece from Cassidy Martin, Gavin Thobe, Carley Stone and Nolan Thobe on Monday in a 330-284 victory over the Tiger Sharks.
Martin picked up her victories in the 11-12-year-old girls long freestyle, individual medley and backstroke. Stone won the 13-14-year-old girls long freestyle, backstroke and short freestyle.
The Thobes paced the Eel boys with Gavin placing first in the 9-10-year-old butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke, and Nolan winning the same events in the 13-14-year-old division.
Audra Bubp, Stephen Jutte, Reagan Grieshop, Owen Sheridan, Alexis Bubp, Cori Stone, Dillon Ramirez and Ava Bubp added two victories apiece.

Ludy lifts average
SALISBURY, Md. — Josh Ludy has made the most of his recent playing time, lifting his batting average with the Lakewood BlueClaws to .250.
Ludy, a 2008 Jay County High School graduate, has four hits in his last three games, including a single Sunday in an 8-0 loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds. He went 2-for-4 Thursday and had a double Wednesday in losses to the Hickory Crawdads.
The second-year pro also got on the mound for Lakewood on Thursday, tossing one scoreless inning of relief.
Ludy’s strong week lifted his batting average .071 points. He has nine hits, including four doubles, in 13 games with the BlueClaws.

Lakewood is the Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, who drafted Ludy in the eighth round out of Baylor University in 2012.

LeMaster leads rally
Max LeMaster capped a furious comeback Monday with a walk-off home run to lift Barnett’s Auto Parts to an 18-16 victory over All Circuit Electric in Portland Junior League Rookie baseball.
Ponderosa stayed undefeated with a 21-8 win over Pak-A-Sak. And in Minor softball, Frontline Construction topped Crossroads 13-9.
LeMaster’s inside-the-park home run finished off a six-run fourth inning for Barnett’s, which won despite falling behind 7-0.  He also had two doubles, five RBIs and two runs, and Daidrick Retz and Bryce Wenk each had three hits, three runs and three RBIs.
Sam Myers paced Ponderosa (7-0) with four hits, including a double and a triple, four runs and three RBIs. Aubrey Schwieterman, Logan Poore and Justice Day each had a hit and two runs to lead Frontline.
FR blasts Wildcats
HOUSTON, Ohio — The Fort Recovery ACME baseball team improved to 5-1 Friday with a 15-2, five-inning slaughter of the Houston Wildcats.
The Indians racked up 14 hits as they rolled to the victory led by a 3-for-4 effort from Derek Backs, who had a triple, four runs and three RBIs. Mitchel Stammen added three hits, including two doubles, three runs and two RBIs.
Chase Bruns had three hits, two RBIs and two runs, and Cole Wendel finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs.
Kent Retz picked up his second win of the summer, striking out five batters in two innings of work. Chase Bruns added three strikeouts in two innings out of the bullpen.[[In-content Ad]]
