EJ slams Eagles (01/17/08)

Ten pins powered the East Jay Middle School wrestling team Tuesday to a 76-21 victory over the Delta Eagles.

All of the Chiefs' pins came in the first period, with Braden Smith-Lykins (85) scoring the fastest in 36 seconds. Most of the other pins came within a minute as well with Austin Bentz (115) winning in 37 seconds, Matt Segraves (100) in 40, Brandon Poore (105) and Nathan Frisch (160) in 49, Matt Taylor (175) in 54, Chandler Stout (120) in 57 and Kyle Garringer (152) in 58.

Nick Leonhard (125) won in 1-minute, 12 seconds, and Zack Metcalf (110) added a pin in 1:27. East Jay's other contested win came from Justin Wygant (145) by a 10-2 major decision.

East Jay won the junior varsity match as well, 27-6, with Kane Bray, Metcalf and Leonhard all scoring pins. Cory Bellis added a technical fall, and Steven Strohl won by major decision.[[In-content Ad]]
