EJ tops Hartford City
EJMS cross country
A sweep by the girls highlighted a winning night for the East Jay Middle School cross country teams Wednesday.
The Chief girls swept the top five spots and rolled to a 15-46 victory over Hartford City. The sixth and seventh grade boys won 23-36, and the eighth grade boys took the top three spots while Hartford City did not have enough runners for a team score.
The first three runners for the EJMS girls finished within four seconds of each other with Abigail Johnson winning by just one second over Emi Minnich in 13 minutes, 14 seconds. Megan Wellman was a close third in 13:18.
Alex Loy was fourth in 13:49, and Amber Huelskamp placed fifth at 14:16.
Jalen Ryder set the pace for the sixth and seventh grade boys, winning the race in 12:34. The remaining Chiefs finished consecutively with Tyler Wendel fourth in 13:34 followed by Mitchell Bruggeman, Matt Blackford and Isaac Alfont.
Zane Shreve cruised in the boys race with a win by 41 seconds in 12:11. Chaz Carroll was second, and Nick Leuthold placed third in 13 minutes flat.
Austin Muhlenkamp was fifth, and Remington Arnold placed sixth.[[In-content Ad]]
